Jesus Wept. He Wept because He Loved. And He Loved Us So Much that He Gave Us the Still, Small Voice of the Holy Spirit
John 11:35
Of all the verses in the Bible, which is your favorite?
Today, we study the book of John, Chapter 11. Here we see how Lazarus was sick, then died.
We see that Christ was visited by Martha, whose sister was Mary, who poured perfume on Christ feet and wash them with her hair.
Even after Christ learned that Lazarus was dying, he waited a full two days later, to get up and travel to see him. By the time he arrived, Mary exclaimed that he was already dead for four days, and there was a stench ~ so how could he come back to life again?
Then Christ stood outside the cave, the tomb or Lazarus was buried, wrapped in linen that even covered his face, Jesus shouted with a loud voice for Lazarus to rise up!
I’m speaking for myself when I pause to ask,
When was the last time that I shouted a prayer?
Most of my prayers are silent or soft, in my home, where almost no one else can listen. I also pray for many people on the phone, two of whom were taken off their ventilators within a day or two, miraculously recovered from near death.
But now, I see how Christ’s emotion went from weeping to shouting a command that caused life.
And that is going to make me stronger. And I am going to learn to SHOUT! some prayers of healing that COMMAND the body to heal!
